The last time my computer went down (three and a half years ago) the only things I did were:

1. Pay a lot of money to get online.

2. Conduct more basic Yahoo Japan production artwork checks. I would miss the things that showed up in irregular, uncommon places. This would drive me nuts since I'm trying to keep accurate records.

3. Watch very old anime from the couple boxes of the fansub tapes that my friend brought over to my house a few years back. In other words, I'd watch anime like "Minky Momo OVA", "The Samurai", "Brother Dear Brother" and more "Marmalade Boy".

4. Read a book.

5. Clean my room.

6. Play old video games on PSX.

7. Sleep more.

It was very boring when I didn't have my computer.

Pays to have more than one computer : ) Can you borrow a temporary computer from family, friends, work, university, etc.... ?

Now if the internet goes down that's another story. I had to drive to work at 7am one Sunday morning to do some YHJ bidding when my ISP was offline a year or so back.

I remember when the lights would go out due to a storm. It blew..

But when my comp dies I tend to do card tricks. I can do a few really good ones due to power outages. I would literally just sit down for hours praciticing. Good times. It was fun but after awhile i wanted my internet back!

I also did watch alot of anime but the majority of my anime is now on my computer so... if it dies no anime for a bit.

..I'd probably have replicated Edvard Munch's "The Scream" on my LiteBrite by now.

I've been fortunate to not have my computer ever die on me. During extended periods of being computer-less, I tend to watch educational programming such as "I love New York" with coworkers and friends as we select who the real 'winner' on the show is.

Oh. How much would you pay for it?

Not having a computer does not bother me too terribly much. Yes, I'm insanely addicted to the internet, but unless I'm waiting for an auction to end I don't mind being without. I tend to travel a lot (w/o a laptop), so I'm frequently without both computer and internet.

Instead, I:

*read
*watch movies
*sew
*clean
*actually get enough sleep

I feel slightly inconvenienced and then move to another computer for what I need to do at the office.

I do not have a computer or television service at home. I have a DVD hooked up to watch anime.

I know, I am strange :wink:

There are now 4 computers in my household so if my main one blows up for whatever reason, I should be safe whilst I fix it. The internet cutting off is my main concern because like you, Carla, I NEED the internet.
I have some regular routines when it comes to using the 'net and if I don't fulfill them each day I get very anxious and jittery.

The last time I was cut off I visited the public library most days and used their computers to check auction sites and some of my emails. It wasn't ideal, especially since I'd have liked to visit some adult sites too. One can't download much to a 3.5" floppy these days anyway j/k

I don't know how Keropi and Rei can sleep knowing that their computer/internet isn't functioning because that situation does my head in!
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

How long have you been using the net?

We are lucky enough to own two computers, one for me and one for my husband, so I just pop onto which ever one is working. Now if the internet is down I grab my DS to play or watch tv while impatiently waiting for the internet to work.
