Champloo - name that character!

Hi everyone!
I'm just going through and scanning all my Samurai Champloo art and I've come across a couple of sketches that I don't know who they are. The bangs make me think of Yukimaru but I'm not sure it could just be a joe samurai.
Any Champloo gurus out there know for sure???

I'm fairly sure that this is Yukimaru from episode 17 (probably).

So your the one that won these from the recent Mandarake auction, hmmm?

Looking forward to seeing the entire haul.

To me this is one of the main 3 characters: Jin. There are a few moments when he doesn't wear his glasses...

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one... I was going to say so yesterday but decided I didn't want to look like a dope.

So now I don't!

Yes it really reminds me of Jin after he takes his glasses off.

I'll definatly have to whip out the old dvds and check it out. It does look a lot like Jin but the bangs are shorter than Jins so I'll have to investigate. The sword also looks like it might be a bokken by the way the tsuka (hilt) is drawn

As for the mandarake auction that actually wasn't me! I was definatly in the running but had other goodies I was going for so I didn't want to go that high in the end. My stuff is from YHJ from about, oh a year ago. I'm over-hauling my gallery and trying to get everything up to date to reopen it, I have so much non esca art that I never displayed or scanned.

Hmm... the ponytail seems a little to high to be Jin. I think it might be Jin's old classmate that Jin had to fight in that one episode (forgot the number)

I think so, too. Let me try to find a number somewhere.

EDIT: Yeah, what Transmet said. Check episode 16 and 17--those are the ones Yukimaru appears in.

Or it could be that the top one is Yukimaru and the bottom one is Jin (well... Flashback!Jin to be more specific).

Upon further review, I think these are actually Yukimaru from episode 16.
The top one looks like it's from the flashback of him fighting Jin with a bamboo sword at the dojo, while the bottom one looks like it may be right before Jin jumps into the river. Hard to tell, though, since the bottom sketch doesn't seem to actually appear.

That's the thing about these rough sketches - a lot of them don't depict the actual animated scene. Some of them (like my Okuru with all 3 main characters) don't even appear at all.

I tried to get my dvds out and find some screen caps but my stupid dvd drive on my laptop seems to not be willing to read dvds at the moment.

Thanks Transmet! I think your right about it being Yukimaru - also adding to that is that I have a couple of other flashback sketches of them sparing at the dojo so that makes sense that these would be with those.

Well I just rewatched episodes 15-18 and it is Flashback Jin!
Its from when he's remembering training at that one dojo in the episode with the graphitti brothers and Mugen learning to read.
