Did anyone here win this?

Post by zerospace »

OK - I was actually planning to bid a bit higher on it, but some other crazy bidders jumped in at the end and so I didn't bother, but... I gotta know, since Celga was the winning bidder - did anyone here win this???

http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g36486340

I couldn't believe the ending price 8O 8O I mean... whoa... it's an awesome sketch and it's from a great scene, but.... dang... I have OVA cels that cost less!

In any case.. if anyone here did win it - congrats on a lovely snag - but I feel for your wallet  :D

Not me ... but it is a lovely, craggy Heero portrait. 26,500 for a genga, a shuusei, and an effects layer does seem a lot though. Nevertheless, it's a sign that even for cel-based productions like Endless Waltz, those dang sketches are starting to go for eyebrow-raising prices.

Yes... interestingly enough, those gengas are from the very end of the movie, where Heero is standing up in the balcony watching Relena--a scene quite a few Heero x Relena fans would love to have a cel/sketch from. I just can't believe it went THAT high... 8O

*meekly raises hand*

He's my Christmas present to myself. XD Cost me as much as an ipod nano. Good thing I didn't really want one of those. >>

Look at that shoulder. <3 And the hair and the eyes and just... *melts into fangirl puddle of goo*

What can i saw. Paint is fun, but I remain a sucker for graphite. <3

Congratulations, kcfrog! Lots of people prefer the visual jag of paint on acetate, but in my experience there's nothing like holding the actual piece of paper that was on the animation supervisor's own desk at the moment that image was created.

Nice MKR sketches affect me the same way ... I paid nearly as much for my Hikarus casting Fire Arrow ... no regrets.

Merry Christmas!

Ha, thanks. ^^;; And merry christmas to you, too! ^^

Yeah, cels are stunning, and of course it's EXACTLY what ends up on screen, which is insanely cool. ....But sketches feel more like "art" to me, you know? I guess because there's no photo-copying involved. Cels are the work of a group of artists, but sketches are just one person. ...One talented person, in Heero's case. <3 That correction layer (shuusei?) is just drop-dead gorgeous. And Heero's so hard to draw. X3

It's true, though, there's nothing like seeing sketches in real life, and being able to touch them. Oh man, I just got some Soubi (from Loveless) sketches in the mail about two weeks ago, and I totally freaked out over them. XD (shows off photo like it's a baby picture) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/ ... 1/sou3.jpg Isn't he adorable?! Ah, I really need to update my gallery; there's quite a bit I've bought and haven't scanned. Bad me. XP

I haven't seen that series, but those Hikaru sketches...! A1end pan cels are not to be dismissed, of course, but it's always nicer when they come in large sets, like your MRK ones. They're all really gorgeous! You can really see the motion in them. I'm really a sucker for moving animation. <3 Sequences amaze me. Not to mention that CLAMP is always gorgeous. The eyes, the crazy "magic" effects.

But your whole gallery is expansive and gorgeous! I love all your CCS card cels. <3

HA!!! See! I'm not the only one! :P
I love touching the pencil lines! Sometimes I trace them with my finger.
It's just amazing to me. :)

...and of course when it's Ichigo, there's another level of enjoyment going on there...

And the wonderful thing about petting sketches (assuming your fingers aren't greasy. >>;;;), is that it's a lot harder to smudge or damage them. X3 I want to play with some of my cels, too, but I'm too afraid of hurting them.
