I have no problem with my name being known. I use the nickname I have to keep my gender from being easily guessed but since My gallery gives me away it is not a problem (Whatta a run-on!)

Although I have no problems whatsoever withthe use of real names, it sometimes gets a bit confusing when during discussions, instead of a quote, the real name is used to refere to the person.

I don't mind if my real name gets used on a forum at all -- I usually don't mention it except in PMs or e-mails, though. I'm sure there's one or two of you that know my real name... it's Amanda. Nice to meet y'all.

I am like the rest as I don't care if my real name is used or not. I use my real name on Pms and e-mail so I know some already know it and seeing as how my name is fairly common its just usually better to use a nickname. I don't even spell my real name right anyway-I spell it Ami but legally its Amy-but growing up there were always 3 or 4 others with the same name in my class-so I wanted to be at least a little different.

Here I was all... "ok". Yes, do try not to be funny when my mind is playing tricks on me. It tries funny things, as in not working at all when drugged.

Most people call me "Yosh" or "Yoshi" most of the time now (in IMs). What's funny is when people find out my real name and still call me Yoshito because my real name sounds funny to them.

My name is Julie...yes, very generic, but I like it.

I don't care if anyone knows my real name because I don't have to worry about anyone stalking me....my boyfriend all on the other hand, he looks like santa claus, I always have to use a stick during christmas, so that I can brush the kids off of him

I see that I am in the minority here in that I do mind in general if my name
is used in threads. Without getting into the sordid details, I will just say that
I have been hurt and betrayed by those who I had considered to be my
friends before and due to this, I'm a bit on the secretive side when it comes
to my identity. So, there are only a few people who I entrust with the

I don't care if people use my name either. But I'm with the shellster...I make up my own nicknames for people...like I just did for shellie.

Even in e-mails and PMs I still use my own nicknames for them...I rarely call my friends by their real names. Ne, Bacon-kun?

Until now I've just been an Associate Professor. Whee!

The promotion and a few bucks will buy me coffee, but hey. Since status seems to matter so much in academia it's nice to finally have some

EDIT: Ok, ok, so NSP scared me. At least I didn't put my phone number on there
