Did you win your highest bid?

Post by Keropi »

If you can recall the highest bid you ever placed on production artwork...

...did you win or lose that auction?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can remember the highest bids I placed (I'm not counting the accidental bid that had the extra zero in it :P ), but I can't recall the 2nd, 3rd, etc. I can only guess at those.

For the highest bid I ever placed on a cel I lost pretty badly (by about 32,000yen I think 8O ).

For the highest bid I ever placed on a sketch I won. But I think I've lost about 3 out of 6-7 of the highest sketch bids I ever put in.

The highest bid I've placed for genga set I was fortunate
enough to win for Rayd as his birthday present.
:hello
That was about 130,000 yen

The highest bid I've placed for a cel (which was for myself)
I still lament losing by about 100 yen.
:bawl :bawl

*cough*
>_>

<_<

Ryosuke knows which cel this is

*sends chibi ninjas to Tokyo*

lol!

No I did not , a year or more ago there was a massive Ranma set I was high bid at $1.2k and did not reach their reserve.

Stupid thing is it sold for $1k when relisted and I did not bid.

Some of those Japanese gamers are nuts. They're so character-oriented.

Not that there aren't a lot of character-oriented non-gamer collectors out there too, but the percentage is higher among gamers because of the character-centered story nature of their games. Sometimes they make exceptions to bid on character artwork even when they normally don't collect artwork.

Was that becuse you didn't want to play games with the seller or because you didn't feel as much like getting them after staring at them for so long? :)

Probably good and bad, but no, didn't win my highest bid. It was on a SM harmony cel and would have been my most expensive cel. Can't quite remember the amount but it was around $1,300. Eeegads! It looks so much worse written down. What would my hubby have thought?

Though it did leave me more money for AnC. :D

I honestly can't remember the most I've bid on a cel, so I suppose no memorable cels (from auctions anyway). Sketches are a different matter however, I did in fact win and well below my max bid /no1

Well their 1st reserve was $1.5K and when it was relisted it still had a reserve , last bid I saw of $950 had not met the reserve so I did not expect them to have lowered the reserve to $1k which it turned out they did. The buyer did break up the set and sold most on ebay , just a few I really wanted have yet to surface.

Although I've lost many, many auctions, my highest bid ever is now sitting happily in my gallery. :) It was for the Heroic Legend of Arslan cel of Farangis playing her flute. This was on eBay back in October. I'm sure some people around here remember seeing it. My maximum bid was $650, which for me is insanely expensive. I think I must have been half crazy to type that amount in, but I was so obsessed with the idea of owning that cel! Luckily I did win, and I only had to pay $285.

I'm not a big fan of auctions, because they make me so nervous! :hurt: I have the feeling that in the future I'm going to come across at LEAST one more Arslan cel that will make me lose all sense of financial reason... It probably wouldn't hurt for me to start saving an emergency cel auction fund. :D

I've lost all four of my highest bids. :hurt:

That's OK, as I've won some of my finest items for well below the reserve I bid. So it all works out in the end.

The nice thing about auctions is, if you lose, you get to keep your money!

The most I've bid is $4500 on a cel and I still got creamed in the bidding. I still lost. 8O It was for a DBZ cel of SSJ2 Gohan doing the Kamehameha with Goku's image behind him. Matching background and sketch included. :bawl

The only time I ever got deathly nervous over a YJ cel... won just barely at my max of $350 or so (I think O.o omg it was so long ago).

Going through my cels like this, I realize very few came from YJ. ^_^;
