Web Hosting... Any Recommendations?

Post by iwakuralain16 »

I told my sister I would help her build a website if she let me use some of her hosting space. LOL I have been researching hosts though and have not found alot in terms of... help I guess. So far Lunarpages looks good.. also host monters looks good too... It will be a media site with pictures and so forth. I know the portion I want to create will have alot of images and etc. I am a little wary though about going with a company that gives you tons of space and bandwidth for such little money. Can anyone think of a good hosting service I could check out? Thanks ^_^

EDIT
Something that will also let me use things such as:
http://gallery.menalto.com/

I keep finding webpage like this that show me what is out there...
http://www.top-10-web-hosting.com/index.htm

I had this great list put together a year ago but... I have no idea where it went. O_O oh well.

I've been using Surpass Hosting for the last three or four years, and I've been really happy with them. My website hosts thousands of pictures with over 600 hits a day, and I've had no complaints with my $15 a month package.

My website: http://www.rockman-exe.com/

Their support desk is also super fast in helping you.

I've had a couple of sites hosted on Lunarpages for a couple of years now without any huge issues. My sites together average about 1GB or more of bandwidth per month and use several databases. So far, I haven't had any major problems except the occasional short periods of downtime.

I've used a few hosts thus far and Lunar has been the most reliable. They respond relatively quickly to tech issues, too. I had to nag them once after breaking my site (of course it turned out to be my stupid arse fault =P).

I wish I could recall who the other hosts I've had are now... but I can't. X|

You probably will want to take what I say with a grain of salt though, since I very very infrequently require my host's support or anything else. The most I need to know is what versions of php and MySQL are installed and what the path to sendmail is :P .

Do you mind if I tell other people: iwakuralain16 said it ended up going with hostmonsters.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
