i'm looking for a program that can translate japanese kanji into looking like it instead of junk writing or just the squares.

does anyone know of a good program to download or buy?

you talking about for a browser? All newer browsers have that automatically. @_@
There are still very few sites that wont show the Japanese characters due to a way it was uploaded and no program so far that I know of works with that yet. :( But maybe I missed something that does :shrug

I think I understood the question.
You (kira) use a regular browser, or Google and there are still tons of crap text digitals and letters in the result page, am I right ?

Well, if the website had been wroten in local entries non Unicode, there would always be a true mess of codes information missing. That often happens on old webpages or handmade webpages.

To read them you require to convert your computer to a japanese standard one in its configuration, problem is that generally your setting discs are allocated per area (america, europe, asia... and other specifics variations).

Otherwise I may suppose that exists emulators that recreate a fake japanese operating system, but I never used such software.

If you are running any version of Windows, it is part of the operating system. All you have to do is configure it. In any version in the Control Panel, languages.

I believe that you just have to tell your browser to display the characters.

If you are using Windows XP these directions should work for you.
STEP 1:
Go to start menu --> control panel ---> Regional and language options

STEP 2:
Go to the language tab at the top of the box (should be the second one along)

STEP 3:
Check the box that says "Install files for East Asian Languages"
(note: some people may be required to insert their windows disk.... others may not have to. I didn't have to)

STEP 4:
Click "Apply" then "OK" and then restart your computer and you are done. Japanese characters should now show up wherever they are used, for example, in your browser, msn, MS-word etc.
Now for Translating Kanji, I use the Fire Fox add on Perapera-kun.
