"Fu" is from the Hepburn romanji system and "Hu" is from the Kunrei-shiki and Nihon-shiki. In addition the Hepburn system has three sub-systems traditional Hepburn, revised Hepburn and modified Hepburn.

Most people learn the Hepburn system when learning Japanese, Newspapers , TV and JR rail use it too.

Confused, You should be :)
8O Wow, thanks for the explanation !! :yay Even if I'm still confused, this really helps a lot !!! :friends:

Actually, I learned it "futari" . . . I'm doing this all from memory of the hiragana, so both are technically correct. X| Plus I haven't studied my Japanese in a while . . . and school starts Monday!!! X|

I like F in most cases, My Friend Fumiko hates her name written as Humiko.

Sadly a lot of the anime out there is just not great learning material because the Japanese is just too strange. My children only speak Japanese and my son couldn't understand parts of HunterXHunter when he was 10.

Crayon Shin chan and Konan are the two I would recommend.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

This evening I went out to my tool shed to clean and went through a bunch of old scrap papers I had from 1997-1999. I was suprised to find so many interesting notes related to my autograph, anime and cel hobbies. I had no idea I had e-mailed TabbyMel that far back in June 1998 about Doukyuusei cels. Holy cow! I didn't think it was that long ago! 8O I still wonder where she's disappeared to. :(

But I'm going off-topic.

I found an old paper from 1998 where I had written down Japanese words and phrases that I learned from watching anime as well as their SUPPOSED meanings. I didn't have any Japanese books at the time so I was only guessing from the way these words/phrases were used in the anime at the time. :roll:

Below is the list. In order to prevent people's minds from being contaminated with bad spellings and wrong meanings I'll place it in a spoiler space. :D The words in parenthesis are added commentary by me. :P
Ai = love
Atsui = hot
Baka = stupid, idiot
Domo = please
Honto des ka? = really?
Ides ne? = Do you got it?
Itadaki mas! = ????
Koros = kill
Mate yo kudasai = Please wait (Where did I get the "yo" from? 8O )
Mime O Sumaseba = If you listen closely
Nani? = what?
Neko = cat
Obachan = Grandma
Oboetei mas ka? = Do you remember? (learned from Macross: DYRL Movie)
Ohaio Gozaimas = Good Morning ( X| )
Oishii = tastes good
Ojichan = Grandpa
Okasan = Mother
Okonomiyaki = Japanese pizza (learned from Viz Ranma 1/2 tapes)
Onesan = Sister (supposed to be "Older Sister")
Oniisan = Brother (supposed to be "Older Brother")
Otosan = Father
Sheo = salt ( :nuts )
Sugoi = great or terrible ( :hurt: )
Sumui = cold ( :O )
Utsukushi = beautiful (learned from Macross: DYRL Movie)
Wakari mas ka? = (Do you understand?)(learned from "Shogun" where else? :P )
Yokai = Roger ( :P )
Yu Yu Hakusho = (I have no idea why I listed that :D )
