Oh, so I'm curios as to the level of absolute obsessiveness of the typical betarian.
I'm talkin' about those lovely emails we send out to various shops to inquire about an item that may or may not be available, and that nail-biting wait to find out.
Er. . . the poll kind of says the rest.
"You have to keep your whits about you when you're losing your mind." - a friend
I haven't bought from a regular shop for a long time, but when I did I would check my e-mail every 15-30 minutes.
Since my computer is on about 85 percent of the time during the night, checking every 15-30 minutes is easy to do. I think the last regular shop I inquired about cels from was Anime World Star. That gives you an idea of how long ago I bought from a regular store (for anything).
I leave my inbox open and click refresh about every hr when its something I really really REAAAAAAALLY want badly from a shop. Usually from Midori or Nomi's shop.
Ive been known to stay awake from lack of sleep from the not-knowing stage
I went with the last choice. Basically, when I'm online at home, my email is always open. It automatically refreshes every 10 minutes. I hear my alert go off and I maximize my email window. And people say they hate O.E.
When I'm at work, I usually check my home email twice during the day. Unless it's a really bad day and then I might not ever get to see it.
It's like I tell all my friends. If you want to get ahold of me, email me. I'm an email junky. If the phone rings, leave a message. Many times I just don't want to talk on the phone. Must be why my inbox is always flooded.
hehe. had to go with the last choice too. i check every 15-30 mins and i'm a night owl anyway... if only hotmail had a notification system then i could skip that first step
Have you told many people that your Outlook is open all the time when I am online and it automatically refreshes every couple of minutes?
The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

My Yahoo mail lets me know when I get an email. So I dont have to check it all the time
"Look what I'm offering you-- your dreams I ask for so little. Just let me rule you, and you can have everything that you want. Just fear me, Love me, Do as I say, and I will be your slave"
Sleep is a necessity lest I be a zombie at work, but my e-mail is always open - at work or at home, so the only time I don't compulsively check is overnight During the day... I have OE check every 15 minutes no matter where I am.
If I got it then I got it, no matter when I check my email.
It's somewhat rare I order from cel shops anyway, and even more rare that it's a must-have cel. Even when it is, I generally check my email no more than I normally would. If I'm on the computer anyway doing stuff, I'll end up checking it every 30 minutes or so, but that's the normal rate I check my emails when I'm on the computer.
If it's late or a TV show I watch is on or any other activity that would have me away from the computer, I don't make any special point to come check it again until I normally would. Probably once before bed and then sleep... I love sleep.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

Patience IS a virtue...
with which I am not overly endowed
However, I was maligned just yesterday for being a sleep addict and there is more truth than fiction to that story. I will stay up for an hour or so being compulsive with the "check for new mail" button, but my body doesn't let me get away with much more than that. Doesn't mean I don't dream about the check mail button, though...
