cellphone customizing question

Post by moonrabitt »

So I have this phone...and I'm not going to pay $9.99 a month to download a song (when I already bought the long version)

So my question is, how do you put songs in your phone???

My phone: Motorola Razor (MotoRazr v3m)

So far I know I need a USB cable, and something called a "driver" I downloaded a driver called MotoRazr v3 at
"http://nodevice.com/search.html"

and the program called "bitpim"
and was successfully able to extract pictures from my phone to the computer. But then when I tried to put images anhd ringtones in my phone the thing did not work :l

So if you have any tips..please help ^_~

Not sure how it works over there, but like you said all you need is a USB cable for the phone and the software, which you should be able to download off the Motorola website...after you have that it should be as easy to transfer music, pictures etc to your phone. But you’re right, buying ringtones and wallpapers for your phone is a waste of money.

V3m is not one I'm familiar with though...is it one of these?

If you have expandable memory on your phone (i.e. if it has a memory card slot) you should be able to get an adaptor that will allow you to put the memory card directly into your memory card reader slot (if you've got one on your laptop) or an adaptor which will allow you to put your memory card into it…that will then go into your USB port, which basically will act like a USB flash drive and again you can drag and drop files to and from your computer.

Try and find out which way will be easier and which model it is and maybe I can see whether I can find a few bits and pieces to send you, that will help you out.

I have a v2m razr and make my own ringtones all the time. The trick is to re-encode the mp3 file to 64 kbits and keep it under 30 seconds. I usually use a .wav editor to add a subtle fade-in and fade-out so it doesn't sound quite so much like a 30 second slice, then encode the .wav to .mp3.

You will also have an easier time transferring things to/from your phone if you install motorola phone tools. It's not a free toolset, but can be found relatively easily if you are at all familiar w/bittorrent.
