Anyone who collects action figures ever commission a custom?

I know a few people on here collect action figures and wanted to ask something. I can't say I 'collect' them as I wouldn't have the space for them but I do buy the ones of character's I like.

Has anybody ever bought a custom figure or paid a really talented individual to commission a character for you? Say something that has never been made before and you always would have liked figures from it?

I have on one occassion and the gentlemen who made it for me is crazy talented. His sculpting and painting is in many cases better than a store bought figure :)
