I was going to ask that question when I saw a book-related thread!

What are you currently reading and what are your favorite genres/authors?

I'm currently reading The Color of Death by Elizabeth Lowell. It's okay. In nonfiction I'm reading The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict and The Purpose Driven Life. (I generally have a bunch of stuff going at once, but only one fiction at a time!)

My favorite genres are crime novels, fantasy and Dave Barry (who's in a class by himself)!

My favorite fictional authors are Janet Evanovich, Stephen White, John Sandford, Andrew Klavan, Tad Williams and Sarah Ash.

Besides math books, I am reading "The Dark Knight Return".... (I am re-reading it again

) Also I am trying to get RK manga volume 16.....

Fav authors....... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....... I can think of many fav authors in Math books, say Bernd Sturmfels (my academic grandfather

), David A. Cox, David Eisenbud, John Little, Donal O'Shea, Mile Steel, etc etc.......

I know I am such a math nurd

i'm currently re-reading Pyramids by Terry Pratchet.

I dont really have a particular favourite Genre its more favourite Authors, they include Douglas Addams, Terry Pratchet, John Brunner, John Updike, Hunter S Thompson (RIP) to name but a few.

Eion Coiffer's Artemus Fowl series are excellent. For my money they are better than Harry Potter

Ooohhh, I love books! I'm not currently reading any, mostly because I seem to have run out of time for reading lately, but the last one I read was Darwin's Children (by Greg Bear)--the continuation of Darwin's Radio. Both were excellent books.

I'm trying to finish "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene -- but I've been working on that book for quite awhile. It's almost as bad as kittens and her math books... except this one is physics--string theory to be exact.

Yup, another nerd--so don't feel bad, kittens!!

I tend to like science, science fiction, crime -- especially cyber-crime, and random works of fiction that look interesting (sheeeesh, I really hate using that term "cyber" for anything. It feels so...dumb

). Oh yeah, and let's not forget manga. Nothing wrong with reading those either!

I've just finished reading 'The Dogs of Babel' by Carolyn Packhurst and 'A gathering light' by Jennifer Donnely.

Dogs of Babel was beautiful and I give it 10/10, and is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend.

A Gathering Light was also breathtaking.

Both books reflected some aspects of my own life, which is what I loved about them.

I'm currently reading 'Checkmate', the third of the Noughts and Crosses trilogy. I only just got it, as a late birthday present on Sunday. Started reading yesterday, and I'm already hooked. At first, I had no clue what was going on, since it was published a long while after the previous book, Knife Edge, but I immediately caught on. A very thrilling book.

Well, i really dont like reading books, but i really liked the book based on the xbox game Halo.... I read two of the three books and i really loved them!!! If anyone played the game, they should definitely read the books. Even if you havent played the game, i still say you read the books.

Ready for a laugh?

I'm currently reading 2 books on archival management.

(trying to get a leg up for the state of the job I'm jumping to)

In between, though, Im reading Kenshin, as fast as I can lay hands upon it. I just got v.5 (I think it is) of Buddha (Tezuka. It's brilliant. It's hysterically funny. It's thought provoking in all the right ways. If you can't buy it, rent it or inter-library-loan it.)

Other things on my "working through them" pile include The Last Samurai (no, not the movie); Morte d'Arthur; Lone Wolf and Cub and its "prequel" Samurai Executioner; The Campbell Companion, and all of his (Joseph Campbell, that is) mythology volumes.

Oh yeah, and I just finished the latest issue of Shonen Jump.

Oh, you just made me feel REALLY pathetic! The only thing I've read lately (besides paperwork) are beta posts, emails, and bleach scanlations. It's very, very sad.

I do plan to read Howl's. That is, if I ever get my butt to Borders.

I'm currently reading "The Crown of Dalemark" by Diana Wynne Jones (author of Howl's Moving Castle). I mainly read fantasy and some sci-fi, and the occasional biography or mystery. My favorite authors - well, a few of them are what people consider "young adult" or even younger, and I'm going to totally screw up spelling their names, but I really like Zilpha Keatley Snyder, Susan Cooper, Craig Shaw Gardner (funny stuff!), Frances Hodgson Burnett, Terry Brooks, David Eddings, Lloyd Alexander, JK Rowling (yes, I'm a Harry Potter fan as well), Tolkein, Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance work, Neil Gaiman, Peter David, ... I'm running out of names off the top of my head. My favorite mystery series is the Mrs. Pollifax series - I don't remember who wrote it, but I really enjoyed it.

Let's see . . .

I'm reading "When True Night Falls" (CS Friedman), the second in a trilogy. It's a re-read - great story.

Over the last weekend, I read some books not in my preferred genre, but still fiction: "Hard Case" and "Hard Freeze" (Dan Simmons) and "The Hammer of Eden" (Ken Follet).

I like the young adult and regular science fiction/fantasy genres (I'll gravitate toward these first, but I don't always walk out of a bookstore with them). My favorite authors are:

Robin McKinley
Clive Cussler
Dan Simmons
Cecelia Dart-Thorton
Jane Austen
Emily and Charlotte Bronte
Katherine Kerry
Peter S. Beagle (who could not like "The Last Unicorn"?!)

Oh don't feel pathetic. The reason the pile is so big is that I only get through a paragraph or two before I either get distracted by cels or fall asleep
