Live action anime
I was a bit surprised to come across that some live action movies exist that are anime based and vice versa. I knew that there was a live action boogiepop, but i also came across that a live action iria was made too. Are there any others live action movies that you can add to the list that have an anime counterpart?

I think I've seen a Wicked City movie some years ago.
And unless I'm very much mistaken, while digging deep into my memory, I've seen a film years ago called Mutronics which was an adaptation of Guyver.
But this is the one I'm waiting for : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0400911/

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

I've watched it... G-Savior or something like that. Eh, the CG was ok... but that was about it.shellie wrote:There is a live action Gundam movie... I've never had the stomach to watch it.
As for other "Live Action" versions...
You're Under Arrest
Cutey Honey
NGE (still in production)
Well the first two aren't movies, but series.

Yes, this is a Japanese remake of the anime which was released in the mid-ninties.In_Gabriel_We_Trust wrote:I think I've seen a Wicked City movie some years ago.
Not forgetting Guyver: The Dark Hero which was released a few years after Mutronics. How many anime have TWO films made based on them?!Gabe wrote:Mutronics was an adaptation of The Guyver
There are more: La Blue Girl, the hentai anime made into live action with rubber tentacles too

Fist of the North Star, a US remake starring Gary Daniels.
The Hakkenden, although this could be based on the original folklore and not necessarily the anime.
Peacock King from the mid-eighties starring Yuen Baio.
Crying Freeman a western remake of the manga/anime which was then followed by Dragon From Russia in 2000.
The latest one to come out of Hong Kong [but filmed in Japan] is the racing drama Initial D. It looks as though a sequal could be made from this too.
There has been talk (over the last 2 years) of a live-action AKIRA but I don't know how far that got, nowhere hopefully.
Many more films have been adapters from Manga, does this count?
Ricki-Oh (The Story of Ricky), Shark Skin Man & Peach Hip Girl, The Stormriders, A Man Called Hero, Young & Dangerous, Lone Wolf and Cub TV series and movies...
I'm sure there are tons more...
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

There was a Korean TV series based on Peach Girl, which was a lot better than the later anime. Let's see... and there have been rumors for *years* that James Cameron wants to do a Battle Angel movie, but I wouldn't take it too seriously. There was a live action Sailor Moon TV show recently, which I loved. Not to mention the musicals- there's a number of Sailor Moon musicals, as well as an Utena musical and a recent Bleach musical. Oh! And there was an Inu Yasha one, about four years ago. It was full of pretty.

A friend lent me a copy of the Live Action Korean TV version of Streetfighter.
Truely abysmal (Blanka esp)
Then there is the live version of Sailor Moon which really reminded me of Power Rangers with worse fighting. If I remember correctly Luna was a stuffed toy

Yeah, I mentioned it above. It features Edison Chen, Anthony Wong and Chapman To so it's bound to be goodMajin_Vegeta_2028 wrote:there is also one of Initial D, starring some j-pop singer

Hong Kong Legends Press team wrote:The car-racing action-drama 'Initial D', starring Taiwanese singer Jay Chou and the 'Infernal Affairs' team of Edison Chen and Shawn Yue, has opened in Asia, and proved an immediate money-spinner. It topped the Hong Kong box-office with US$1.9million (HK$14.9 million) during its opening weekend: the city's biggest result in 2005 and the No.2 all-time record for both Chinese and international pictures.
Co-directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, Initial D has even cracked the opening weekend records of the directors' world renowned Infernal Affairs trilogy. The film will be released in UK cinemas on Jan 6th 2006 by Hong Kong Legends.
