*jumps up and down wildly* I did it!!! I did it!!!

Post by kisara »

So it took a few temper-tantrums, some major ass-kissing, and a few "wifely favors," but I finally got my husband to sitdown and watch some anime with me. Really watch it. Not the, "God, why do you want to watch this crap," do everything he can to let me know he's avoiding actually taking any of it in, acting like a general butthead and all that. He actually watched it and, at the end of vol. 1 of Champloo. . . . "What?! That's all they put one the DVD? What?! That's not cool!"

I'm just so dang proud of myself right-now. Yep, I've drug another one down with us. :P

I swear you were talking about my husband!!! :P

He actually watched it and, at the end of vol. 1 of Champloo. . . . "What?! That's all they put one the DVD? What?! That's not cool!"
Mine said, "so, where's the next volume?" for the next few days every day. I had to re-explain to him release dates/schedules, and my coughlackoffundscough. :P

Right now, we're actually watching Full Metal Panic together. Together! Just like you said, not the pointedly ignoring me watching it, but actually watching it with me. Yeah, counting all the little white panty shots, and laughing at the goofy stuff (where the hell did that gun come from?!) (it's a pickup, dear, maybe it came with it). And he actually said we should watch some tonight for an hour before CSI came on!!! 8O

Will wonders never cease. Between the two of us, the world as we know it is ending! :rollin

Good luck keeping him interested! My hubby enjoyed Outlaw Star and Kenshin, and RahXephon. I think of the ton of anime I have, those are the only ones he's watched with me over the last three years. Oh, and Last Exile. ...and Crest of the Stars... but I think that's it...

Congrats!! another one bites the dust...

I had to stop everything last night and find the next episode of FMA for the Spouzal Unit (tm). "Harumph! That's what I get for letting you get ahead of me!"

He's actually watched a few series I haven't -- Last Exile, GTO, Ramune, Najica Blitz Tactics... another big one, but it escapes me at the moment. It's scary when the contagion spreads THAT WELL. (Of course we can also thank Kymaera for suggesting some of the more... bouncy titles). :P

Congratts!
Getting them to watch one is half the battle. I started mine with hentai, after that it was an easy sell. :dgrin
Now he collects cels and has bought over 200 dvd's. Just wait till his collecting habbits start affecting your cel budget! X|

He particularly loves Grenadier, Kiddy Grade, Daphne and the Brilliant blue (and some of the really cute ones like Midori Days and Azumanga Daioh). Sometimes a little fan service can go a long way with stubborn hubbies!!

Baakay, you MUST watch Last Exile.

Kisara, he might also like Basilisk (unless he isn't used to subtitles yet, alot of newbies don't like to read in the beginning).

I have only made my boyfriend watch animatrix and the only reason why he watched it was due to the Matrix movies. He has no interest in watching any other anime with me. Ugh, it is so hard to get him interested in anything other than sports :l

(yes, I have tried to make him watch sports anime...didn't work :hurt: )

Hmm.. guess I'm spoiled.. my fiance, 4_degree is actually the one who drug ME into anime. I then promptly returned the favor when I got him into cel collecting about a year later. :rollin Seems like the perfect moment to say 'payback's a bitch!' hahaha. But this took place about 4-5 years ago when Gundam Wing (still my fav series) sucked me into anime forever :P.

I can wait. I am a very patient robot.

Geeze, even when Cam is watching something I'm not interested in, I usually glance at it anyway. ( read glance as "look away if he notices me watching" XD)
I can't belive he didn't sneak a peek before you had to resort to drastic measures! Well, good on you for getting him to see the truth!

Yeah, the trick is to find out what they like, if they are going to like anything at all. Mine will only watch a Miyasaki film now & then, and I got him to watch Tokyo Godfathers on Christmas day, and the first 2 parts of Memories. Maybe I would have better luck if I didn't make him read subtitles, but neither the kid nor I like anime that is dubbed and will only watch dubs on TV. (she's 11 and has been reading subtitle since she was 9 and thinks Souichiro Hoshi is the greatest of seiyuus.) Most of the time he channel surfs in the living room while we go off to watch the latest download of Bleach or look at our newly arrived anime rental. At least he no longer confuses anime with the Hanna Barbara stuff he was raised on! He is also not harrassing me about buying anime art, but he may be secretly praying for the day anime is completely done on computers.
