Question for everyone...

Post by Sugarflower »

I'm just curious (and bored). Does it bother you when you email or message someone to welcome them to the community or just to give compliments about how nice their cel gallery is only to receive no reply from them?
Personally, I would like a reply this way I know my message had been received and they would know that someone cared enough to give greetings and compliments. Am I wrong to feel this way?

I would always want a reply because i think people who dont reply often dont care and are just rude. I always reply to people when they write anything to me and you know that kris  :)

I dislike being ignored altogether, so I'd have to go with NSP. If you take the time to say hi, they should take a second or two to say thanks. :x It's not hard to do.

Yep, I agree with everyone else. An e-mail takes so little time to send that there is no excuse for not answering one. I make a point of always sending a return e-mail whenever people contact me about my gallery.

What really irritates me is when people ask if I'd be open to offers on a particular item, I e-mail them "yes"...and then never hear from them again. You'd think that if they wanted the item, they would at least tell me what they were offering!

Indeed Harry! :D I do the same. I love receiving compliments about my gallery and when I was a newbie here I had a very warm welcome from everyone. It's great making friends from all over the world who have the same interests as I do and I love keeping in touch with them. Maybe when I randomly email someone new I scare them away? X|

I know what everyone means about that. I've had offers with no replies to my replies. It's so annoying to be left hanging. :?

I always reply, and would feel kind of grouchy if no one answered back. I've never had someone ask if I'll accept offers and then never answer back, though. That'a because no one will send me offers. :D

I have to sift through a couple hundred pieces of junk email every day and often do not see my inbox for a day or two, so it is very easy for me to miss something. Sometimes I am so fed up with it I don't answer or answer a few days late. I know courtesy is the ting, but it doesn't always work out. :?

A polite response back is not too much to expect... X| but you do have to remeber that there are procrastinators like me who have it in thier heads to respond back...but put it off til doomsday. (really, I'm probably the worst at writting people back, let's just blame that on general laziness). But then that's an inside issue, and probably why my friends want to ring my neck  Overall I'd say it's not too much to ask, and not that much trouble, and it is nice to get a response when you did take the time to write. (....and yet still...my own habits will probably never change... :wack )

Yes... Definitely... You should definitely follow up with a letter showing your disapproval of them ignoring you!!!!

Then kick them if possible.

I'll respond, but I'm with the "I have too freaking many emails to scan in a day already" crowd. And 2 different email addresses to sort through. (yes, I know some of you have bunches). But we're talking upwards of 150 messages a day at work, and... I sometimes get trigger happy on the Delete.

Agh! Nooo! Wendychan, you're not the worst at writing people back! I won't let that one pass! :wack But whenever I get an e-mail from you, it's always really funny and uplifting! Heehee, but then again, we talk about Gaara most of the time lol. Wahhh! He's gonna be in the second movie! :love2

Anyway, back to the main topic. I agree with Glorff. I get a lot of junk mail which is so hard to move through, and sometimes I miss things. :? I try to respond to all the e-mails I receive as soon as possible, but like Glorff said, 'it doesn't always work out'.

However, with PMs, I tend to reply to every PM ('cos there's no junk mail, whoot! :yay ), unless of course it's a PM not meant to be replied to, (like a little reminder or 'go to chat' or something) ^_^ But if I leave a PM without a reply, thinking that I need to quickly do something and come back to reply, I tend to forget. >_<;; That's what sometimes happens with me. Eep. Gomenne. /sry

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
