I dislike being ignored altogether, so I'd have to go with NSP. If you take the time to say hi, they should take a second or two to say thanks. It's not hard to do.

Exactly, it really does happen all to often, especially on RS...I think it's just plain rude if somebody has taken the time to write/comment/ask you a question, the least you could do is reply, even if it's just to say thanks, but you're too busy to reply…it takes like what…20 seconds? It’s just common courtesy!

It really does get on my nerves and it's the first community that I have found to do this….but at the other end of the spectrum, there are some really really nice people out there as well! Ahh well, just means I choose not to participate or buy from them, which is the case on a few cels around at the moment...their loss!

I'll try to answer any mails I get on the subject even if I know the reasons aren't all that deep.

I'm just curious (and bored). Does it bother you when you email or message someone to welcome them to the community or just to give compliments about how nice their cel gallery is only to receive no reply from them?
Personally, I would like a reply this way I know my message had been received and they would know that someone cared enough to give greetings and compliments. Am I wrong to feel this way?

Some collectors are very private and/or just don't want to be bothered as they see it as a "foot in the door" leading to them being asked if they are willing to sell such and such cel. They may also be reluctant to befriend a fellow series collector for fear of bidding against a friend and having to make a decision similar to the one Pudge had to make recently to let Kisara have the cel.

Another possibility is that they're a surly grumpy old man.

I agree with what others have said: it's only polite to respond back, especially if the email is just a friendly, "I like this or that" type of email. Then again, I really do not ever get offers on any of my cels. I think I've gotten, maybe, 2 offers in the year or year and a half I have been collecting ... so that could color my opinion a bit. If a person gets a ton of unsolicited offers, I guess I could see how they might avoid gallery-related mail.

I always try to write back ... although I have to admit I'm horribly slow at times. I almost never get to send a reply back as soon as I get/read an email, and, often, it is two or three days before I can send a proper response.

Sorry but personally, I'm on the same boat as glorff, Baakay, and Wendy. I just have too many emails/pm's and sometimes I read somethin and tag it as "important" so I can reply to it but completely forget >_<

I have several emails/pm's I have yet to respond to just because now that school has started, I dont have as much time anymore.

So dont see it as "rude," I'm sure they aren't purposely trying to ignore you sugarflower. Maybe they are just busy at the moment.

I try to answer almost all the RS feedback ones quicker than my reg ones because I don't want a n00b to think I don't appreciate comments or for visiting. So I say my thanks and take care.
Thou I will admit, like Tracy mentioned, I am a lil hesistant to reply to those that start off as "Hi I like X stuff.. could you sell me X thing" only because lately I've had some ugly emails that started off that way. I guess the saying would apply to this: A few rotten apples ruin the tree for the rest .

I HATE not getting a reply. No matter if it's complimenting a gallery or askin to sell something. It's not hard to write a one word e-mail sayin thanks, yes, or no.
