Final Fantasy VII AC

Post by Ashura »

For those of you that didn't play Final Fantasy 7 *like me :P* I hope this helps. My friend sent this to me which made some things much clearer (at least for me :D ).
Final Fantasy is probably the most famous RPG video game series ever made, Final Fantasy revolutionised the expectations of computer games way back in 1997, when the series released the 7th game. The 7th game featured 3d graphics, which at the time were the best in the business, and yet even with these graphics, it was never the visuals, which gripped so many Final Fantasy fans to the 7th instalment.

Since 7, the games have only got better in terms of 3d effects and even now Final Fantasy still is expected to have far superior graphic effects to any other game you play. So why was every one caught on Final Fantasy 7? Final Fantasy 7 is the game all Final Fantasy fans remember due to the creativity of a story, which kept you playing the game for hours upon hours at a time. Everything about the story was perfect; it was like playing through one of the most exciting and emotional books you have ever read in a watch able form.
The game featured Shinra inc which was an evil corporation which was responsible for supporting the worlds technology with a special and secret substance called Mako energy. Unfortunately the source of power “Mako” ended up being the life force of the planet and by using it, the balance of nature was becoming disrupted.

The main character Cloud Strife appeared as a mercenary in a rebel group who have decided enough is enough and they are going to put an end to the use of the planets life force and take on the corporation which ends up being much more then a political argument. It turns out Cloud and the rest of the group get much more than they expected when Shinra through their army, robots, mutants and various other creatures at them. Eventually you learn more about Cloud Strife who has a very complicated past and when a terrorist with intent of destroying the planet shows up and brings even more chaos Cloud’s troubles have just begun.

Advent children takes place - 2 years after the events of Final Fantasy 7 and of course, after Cloud had defeated the Evil Corporation and Sephiroth, the terrorist. Due to Shinra using so much of the planets energy, the planet took matters into its own hands and rebalanced itself, destroying Shinra. However the planet was much angrier then people thought and infected creatures around the world with a disease named Geostigma.

Our hero Cloud now manages a delivery company, transporting things around the world on his motorbike. Cloud lives there with Tifa, a very popular character in Final Fantasy 7; she captured hearts not only because of her good looks, but strong personality throughout the games. Tifa always liked Cloud, but after Sephiroth killed Clouds love in the game, Tifa never made a move. The two of them house orphans from the streets who are infected with the Geostigma, in their ‘office’. Symptoms of Geostigma include mental weakness, pain and even death. Cloud also suffers in secrecy from this disease hiding his affected arm beneath his sleeve.
We are introduced to three new enemies in Advent Children Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz all of whom have an uncanny resemblance to Sephiroth and Cloud of course sees this the first time he meets them. In them, Cloud sees shadows of FFVII’s fallen hero, Sephiroth. When cloud first meets them it is an action packed scene in which Cloud is being chased by the other 3 in a huge motor bike fight at huge speed, by far some of the most stunning computer generated effects you will see this decade. The trio are looking for their “mother” and worryingly refer to Cloud as their “Brother”.

Cloud returns back to action, when ‘Rufus’ the former president of Shinra, hires Cloud to be his bodyguard against the three shadows of Sephiroth. The president is also suffering from Geostigma. While Cloud is visiting Rufus, we are taken back to Clouds office aka 7th Haven, where we see Loz has engaged in a fight with Tifa and which ends in Loz taking the orphans Cloud has cared for. Cloud only finds out when another two of Rufus’ bodyguards report that the three have taken the children to their own headquarters.

When Cloud rejoins with another former character of Final Fantasy 7 ‘Vincent’ the threes plans are revealed. They going to use the fallen Jenova’s head to use his cells to create another Sephiroth to come and reign havoc once more. Could this have any thing to do with the kidnapping of the orphans or the Geostigma… But why? Why do the trio need the Orphans? Cloud sets out for revenge and payback for everything the supporters of Sephiroth stand for.

The idea and the story are suburb, but how does the film path out? The answer is perfectly. The film is full of action and by far the most intense computer generated films ever made. Advent Children features characters and movements of characters, which prove to you one day it will be impossible to tell between real life actors and computer generated characters. The amazing human like movement, but the ability to have that amazing ability to depict a life like character jumping however high, doing what ever the writer wants is just exciting. And the creators have obviously abused that in this film, the fight scenes are so amazing it sends chills down your back.

One scene that will probably be with viewers forever is the fight half way through, between Cloud Strife - Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz, in this scene the future of the film inustry is pretty much summer up. High flying, multiple weapons, amazing graphics and special effects beyond your wildest dreams. Although the action is by far the best part, there are other graphical moments that will amaze you, there is one point where over 1000 different people are running in all different directions around tokyo away from monsters, each character has its own face, build and way of running, it really was breath taking to watch, and I can only imagine took months to create that five minute scene.

Advent children has really pulled out all the stops and created some of the most fast paced action scenes ever made. Advent Children boasts main characters throwing each other about, slow-motioned exchanges, weapons fights, motorcycle bouts, battles with mystical creatures and an amazing storyline which can be followed by people who have or have not played the games. A huge improvement on Final Fantasy: The Spirits within and this film will probably go down in history as “The Film which Started the computer graphic revolution” Final Fantasy Advent Children has done for film what it did for computer games, bought them years forward in time.
I was told this information a little later (mind you, I had already watched both FFVII AC & FFVII LO:

The summary of the game story is totally insufficient, because there’s so, SO much more about it. What this person wrote about the story was only the surface.

Simply calling Sephiroth a terrorist doesn’t quite add it up.
But I guess it will help people who haven’t played the game understand Advent Children a little more.

*cosniders himself extremely lucky or getting dozens of " Uende's Lectures On FFVII.", which allowed me to get a wonderful insight and inside view in what could very well be on of the greatest RPG stories ever told.
I, and I'm certain a lot of people who lack the ability and patience to play the game, can't wait to see the entire story being told in AC-form, preferably spread over two or three movies.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

If the US DVD is like the Japanese release, you can watch a "walkthrough" of the game in the Extras sections.

Oooh! Now THAT I would love! Crappy game players like me never get to see the cool stuff in the upper levels of the game story since I never get that far! I wish Halo had that feature... I could just sit back and enjoy the story and the graphics without getting sweaty palms trying to kill off all the Flood in order to see the next level! :)

Borrow your neighbor's kid. Sit back and enjoy the show. =P

Personally I had to buy a Gameshark to beat the stinking last zone. I went into the mountain and didn't know I couldn't get out... and this being my first RPG, didn't save outside... so was stuck inside w/o enough stuff and a few levels too short.

>.> So I gamesharked some items for myself and went at it. Took a while, but I finally did it. Still say the second disc was something that shouldn't be talked about ever again.

Whoa, I happened on this thread at the perfect time!

I recently got FF VII: Advent Children a couple weeks ago, and since seeing it, I'm now a FFVII fan. I am completly new to the the Final Fantasy world so I have no clue what was going on, who was who and why, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and loved the special effects. I really like how the characters' facial expressions are so life like that even the sneers look real. :P

My favorite scenes are the ones in which Cloud engages the three brothers, and of course the last fight between Cloud and 'Sephiroth.' I am very happy at seeing so many bishies! :D

Me being a newbie, are there t.v. series on FF VII? I just learnd that there are what, 10 Final Fantasies? But I am quite taken to VII, and would like to see more. :)

The only other anime/OVA for FFVII is Last Order. I actually like it slightly more than AC. For the lack of technical terms, it's regular 2-d animation (but sooo nice...) Plot-wise, LO is taken from the game, so it was a "Oh I remember that!" kind of viewing for me. Nice to reminisce. :)

There are currently 13 games to the series so far: FFI-X, X-2, XI (MMORPG), and Tactics. It's been a while since I've gamed, so I could be wrong. I can't wait for XII to come out though!

Two tatics games actually... one for the PlayStation and other called "Tatics Advanced" for the Gameboy Advanced.

There is no storyline advancement between the versions (well guess X-2 is an exception since it is a continuation to X) other than some names get passed on from the previous ones (but no relation to them).

If you have a PS2, you can play the demo for VII with the Dragon Quest VIII coming out next month (plus you get to play a great full game to boot).

Ah, thanks for the Tactics correction. I didn't know there was a difference. X| I've had the PSX version for years and never played.

There's a demo for VII included? Does that mean they're planning on re-releasing the game? I wouldn't mind that if it meant improved graphics...

Doh, sorry... Typo. Meant to say XII (12) not VII (7). Although there is a VII Vincent game for the PS2 coming out...

Cool link, Uen! Love the "loading" icon thingy. The characters are awesome too... but the cutesie cat seems kinda out of place! :) I'm sure somehow he fits in nicely if you know the story though.

Hang on... Are you talking about the CGI animated movie Advent Children here? I'ma bit behind but I just heard about this movie- still don't know anything about it though!
I only know the FF7 videogame on the PSX which I played to death- and beat Sephiroth, I remember that choral music and chanting at the end was freaky.

When it got past FF8 I stopped after over-dosing on too much online Triple Triad!! ha ha!
