Finally started watching Hikaru No Go

Post by Goldknight »

I'm on ep. 21 right now. It reminds me a lot of Yugioh in theme. However Sai cracks me up being so goofy only wanting to play Go. Too funny. I have to say though....I'm totally in love with Akira. He's such a cutie. Hikaru is adorable as well. I watched the american version for the first four eps and was totally disgusted with Sai's cheesy voice. Then when I watched the original japanese version I was more satisfied with the voice actors. It's very addicting because I'm dying to see matches against the Touya family. I also want to see what happens to Sai. 8O

It was a very addicting series for me. The manga creator did such a good at creating suspense for upcoming matches. "Things" slipped out every now and then and those "things" created such mental games for everyone around Hikaru. Such powerful build ups of suspense for a board game. It was a very good series I thought. :)

Yep, what they said. I'm up to 34 now... ever so much more fun now that I'm past where I have read in the manga, although even knowing what was going to happen next didn't take much away from the enjoyment!

I'm thoroughly amazed at the suspense of this game. And its complexity in spite of being such a simple thing in terms of basic rules. I'll never get it :) But it's fun trying!

I saw the first twenty or so episodes and I have to admit that for a series about a game I don't fully understand, it was very addictive.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

My daughter watched it about a year before I did. Just kept putting it off and watched something else instead.

Now, it's in my top 5 favorite anime. Don't miss watching the Special at the end. Plus the manga extends the storyline just a little further than the series.

DT, I hope you're reading this thread. :D

It's all about the making of a good story, the material aside.

I'm obsessed- I bought a miniature GO board complete with mini stones for my dolls. I'll be using in at AX when I'm in the pre-reg line. :P

Touya Akira is so sexy. :P

I think I've heard that one before.

Let me know when you know...
who Hikaru's Insei friends are, ok? Or who was Hikaru's supporter to take the Insei exam. Then I'll know you're watching it.
 :D *then I'll know your past Chaper 20 and hooked on watching it*

EDIT: I should have used the spoiler box...sorry

eep. I'm well past that but I think I'd be hard pressed to dredge up the names.
"blonde guy with glasses"
"little squatty kid who laughs when he loses"
"redhead who's smarter than most of the rest of them combined"
My head for details never ceases to amaze me. I hope you don't drum me out of the league of HNG fans because of it :emb
