I actually saw it last week. A friend won tickets to an advanced screening at the Palms. It was very good. My favorite of the films so far, even though it was not my favorite book of the series (that goes to POA). More humor than in previous films, and lots of action.

I'll be there for the opening weekend, if not the opening night. I'm so excited. And my husband is NOT allowed to go with me. He always embarrasses me at HP films!

I just now bought my tickets for the 12:15am showing! I was surprised that there were a lot of tickets left, but I think every screen in every theater in the city will be playing it.

My friends saw an advanced screening. I had to work so I didn't go. But we're all going to see it when it comes to IMAX later this month. From what I've heard, it can wait. I've read all the books so I'm not worrying about being spoiled. :^^:

Did you all like it or were you disappointed like my friends were?

though one character....

I loved it personally, considering it was one of my least favorite books in the series that's an accomplishment :^^: I may have to reread the books now because I remember it having a darker tone and while it's still pretty dark, the lighter moments made up for it.

Since POA, I have approached each film the same way. I judge it based on whether it entertained me or not, and whether it stuck to the spirit of the novel. In that case, the film exceeded my expectations. Yes, there were a ton of things left out of the film with regards to the novel, but the overall spirit of the film was in line with the book. I am very happy with the idea of breaking Deathly Hallows into two films. I hope they keep two moments in the novel intact...
1. Snape's death scene and revelation to Harry

2. Molly Weasly's standoff with Bellatrix. "Not my daughter, you BITCH!"
I think by now, complaining about the differences between the film and the book is moot. I thought, standing on its own, it was a very good movie.

I believe that no one should ever complain about any differences between any books and movies. They are completely different mediums. A book has no restrictions beyond the author's imagination. A movie has a ton of restrictions - time, budget, technological ability, etc.

I've enjoyed all the Harry Potter movies so far and am expecting the same thing with this one. I don't have high hopes so that's a good bet I will like it. My friends were complaining that the feel of the movie was off. They had a really hard time trying to explain beyond that it didn't seem like it was as dark as it should be. Guess I'll see if I agree or not when I go see it. :^^: Good to hear most are liking it. BTW, my friends did like it. They just didn't think it was that great. "The worst of the Harry Potter movies so far but still good."
