wow, Ive been reading all the amazing jobs AB people have,
jobs that really make a differenece....so Ive been a little hesitant
to reply, but here goes...I work for a very small engineering firm, we make high-performance parts for motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats etc, mostly for pro racers/motocross guys, I enjoy my work, its a very detail oriented position and often extremely challenging in its own odd way, but Im not like gonna save the world with it

Wow, everybody's jobs are so interesting! Well I'm not necessarily working per se, but I just finished up my BS degree in biology. Right now I'm currently studying/preparing for the DAT's. Very grueling and stressful, but I have cel collecting on the side to keep me happy
My dream is to score high enough to get into dental school

I have a small architecture firm (5) that is my life's calling.
Business number two is a framing company that does mostly apartments
Business number three makes weapons and armor to sell at Renaissance Faires

I currently work part-time as a Customer Service/Store Mngmt Clerk at a local grocery store. I play boss to high school brats; close the store 1-2 nights a week; do some cashiering and take that guff/cursing/whatever when a customer has a complaint. (But, I try to resolve it too.
)
It's not fancy, nor is it what i want to do; but, it pays the bills. (don't know how much longer, my student loans went into repayment and they refused to give me more time to find better, steady work.)
I have a B.A. in English for Corporate Communications and Mngmt and graduated in 2007 with no job prospects. I finally did land a job in 2008 as a Marketing Assistant at an engineering firm. Unfortunately, it didn't work out b/c the needs of the company and for that position itself changed (i.e. i don't want to train entry-level employees, i want to bring someone in who can just do it and do it now.)
I've been constantly on the hunt for a better job, but i keep running into walls with that "i don't want to train-attitude" or "i'm sorry, but we found a more experienced worker." The job market sucks were I'm at. I would love to go back to school and get my Masters in Marketing but I can't until I find better work.
Keep me in your prayers! And, I'm quite impressed with all the engineers and meds in the room.

Wow theres a diverse crowd here.
I'm technically a student studying art at Joe Kuthberts School of Cartooning and Graphic Art.
But I have a job as a waitress with a catering company which I do enjoy. It's always fun to see some of the craziness at weddings, funerals, showers, meetings, and other get togethers.

Quite the diverse group we have. I remember a post like this years ago. It's nice to see the most recent members and what they do. I teach veterinary medicine. We have a quarter system so every ten weeks we get 2-3 weeks off. This week is finals which means my break starts next week!!! YAY!!!!!
I can't wait. 2 weeks of nothing!!!

All of these different fields are very impressive. I have admiration for all of you, and I dunno if I should even be posting but hey what the heck. I'm currently a college student at the University of Albany with a double major of East Asian Studies and world history. Over the summers I work at a womens comfort shoe company Laurevan. They make brands such as Eric Michael, Worischoffer, and La Plume, doubtful anyone has heard of them though. It's a small family business but we sell to Nordstroms, J Jill, and other large retailers and since the company is as small as it is, chances are if you ever bought anything I packed it up and sent it out for you if I was working lol. Just figured I'd share!

The breadth of the experiences represented by the cel collecting community is remarkable. Both liberal arts and science background vocations are well represented. The job experiences also range from novices to very seasoned and experienced professionals in many fields. I knew from meeting people at various conventions that there were several medical professionals active in the Beta forum.
I work as a pharmacist doing pharmacovigilance/drug safety analysis for a medium size biotech company that just had a favorable decision from an FDA advisory committee for our drug to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), an incurable and invariably fatal lung condition. So we are awaiting the final FDA decision. Hopefully, we will soon have a treatment to slow the progress of this terrible disease.

Wow Craig - that sounds quite impressive.
I hope the FDA
will grant your request, and your drug gets released to the market.
Syan - sounds like our jobs are very similar. Do you do alot of
travelling as well?? I will be in Kansas City working next week,
and will hopefully get to spend some time with Shampoo & rayd.

I don't have to travel; I work on a government-wide system, so most everyone who'll use it are local. There are a handful of agencies outside the area, but those trips were divided up amongst the team. I got a nice trip to Denver though.Gonzai wrote: Syan - sounds like our jobs are very similar. I do geology for an oil and gas consulting firm. Geology is all I ever majored in or planned to do, so it seems to have worked out well. Though as a geo major you think you'll be out in the field looking at rocks, when in fact I spend 99.9% of my time behind my desk looking at a computer or at paper copies of maps and logs. At least I have a nice rock collection sitting on my bookshelf.
